Requirements
| Software | Version | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| .NET SDK | 10.0 (any 10.0.x feature band) | Builds, runs, tests and publishes the app. global.json accepts any 10.0.x SDK |
| ASP.NET Core Runtime | 10.0 | Enough on a server that runs a published app (the SDK includes it) |
| Node.js | 24 or newer, with npm | Only needed to change and rebuild the CSS or JavaScript |
| Web server | Kestrel (built in), IIS with the ASP.NET Core Module, or Nginx/Apache as a reverse proxy | See Installation |
| Database | Not required | The template runs without a database. Add Entity Framework Core or the data access you prefer when you build your application |
| IDE (optional) | Visual Studio 2026, JetBrains Rider or Visual Studio Code with the C# Dev Kit | Open Orbix.slnx |
The package ships prebuilt assets in src/Orbix/wwwroot/build/tailwind, so you can run and publish the template with
the .NET SDK only. Install Node.js on your development machine to customize styles and scripts.
The web app references no NuGet package: it uses the ASP.NET Core shared framework only. The test project restores xUnit, AngleSharp and the ASP.NET Core testing packages from nuget.org.
Skills you need
Basic knowledge of ASP.NET Core (Razor Pages, appsettings.json, dotnet commands) and of HTML and CSS. Every
change described in this manual is a small edit of a Razor page, a JSON file or a C# class.
