Orbix ASP.NET Core · Tailwind CSS v1.0.2

FAQ

Do I need a database? No. The template renders static demo data and runs without a database. Add Entity Framework Core (or the data access you prefer) when you build your application.

Do I need Node.js on the server? No. Build the assets on your machine or in your CI (npm run build in src/Orbix) and publish them with the app. The package already includes a production build in wwwroot/build/tailwind.

Is there a back end (users, roles, CRUD)? Orbix is a UI template for ASP.NET Core: pages, layouts, partials, tag helpers and view components. Connect them to your own page models, services and authentication (see Starter kit for ASP.NET Core Identity).

Can I use it with MVC controllers and views instead of Razor Pages? Yes. The layouts, partials, tag helpers and view components work in MVC views too: add the same @addTagHelper, @inject and @using lines of Pages/_ViewImports.cshtml to Views/_ViewImports.cshtml, call builder.Services.AddControllersWithViews() and point your views to the layouts in Pages/Shared. Links to controller actions use Url.Action(). The sidebar highlights the entry of the Razor page being rendered; for controller views, mark the entry in Pages/Shared/Components/Sidebar/Default.cshtml from your own route values.

Can I use it with Blazor? This item is the Razor Pages edition. The fd-* markup and the styles work in any front end, but the shell is written as Razor Pages, partials, tag helpers and view components.

Does it use jQuery or a CDN? No. Every script and style is compiled locally with Vite. There are no external requests.

How do I change the logo and the app name? The page titles use Orbix:Name from appsettings.json. The logo is the brand block in Pages/Shared/Partials/brand.cshtml: change the name there, and replace the ox-i-mark symbol in ClientApp/svg/orbix-icons.svg with your own SVG, then run npm run assets. The favicon is wwwroot/favicon.svg.

How do I change the default language? Set Orbix:DefaultLocale in appsettings.json (en, es, pt, fr or ar).

How do I remove a language? See Languages.

How do I make dark mode the default? initTheme({ product: { mode: 'dark' } }) in ClientApp/js/app.ts (see Theming).

Why do the icons I added not show? Run npm run assets (or npm run dev / npm run build): only the icons referenced in your pages are added to the sprite.

Why are there no <script> tags for page scripts? ClientApp/js/app.ts is the only entry: it loads the module named by <body data-module> on demand, so every page downloads only the code it needs.

Can I use Orbix for a SaaS where my customers pay? Yes, with the Extended License. The Regular License covers one end product whose users are not charged.

Where are the source images of the illustrations? The illustrations are inline SVG inside the auth and status partials; edit their colors with the design tokens.

Can I use the demo photos in my product? Yes. They are CC0 1.0 or public domain (credits in wwwroot/images/CREDITS.json and licensing.txt). To use your own, replace the files in wwwroot/images with WebP or JPEG images of the same size, or change the src in the pages; avatars fall back to initials when there is no photo.
